I recently discovered Mouettes D’Arvor, and I couldn’t be happier. They give these fish the respect they deserve and the tomato sauce is fresh and lively. It is different from most of the canned tomato type sauces of other sardines. It has a fresher pulpiness to it. I really enjoyed this tin. I did get one mushy fish, but I gave it to the dog and she liked it. This tin is a winner.

First try of a French sardine and it didn’t disappoint. The oil is more tomato-ey given the sun-dried tomatoes. There was a mix of small pureed tomatoes and larger pieces. The fish were a little broken up but overall well preserved. These were a little softer in texture than others. I’m not sure I’d get this again given that, but it is worth trying and I’ll look for other varieties in this brand.

I love sardines and I love sundried tomatoes; to the point where I can eat them as a snack. These were delicious sardines, but I may have been expecting more sundried tomato flavor than what I was presented. That is by no means meant to discount these sardines in the slightest, but if you were like me and hoping for more of a tomato punch in the mouth, these are not it. Instead they are delicately flavored in a beautiful way that highlights the flavor of the sardine. Texture was firm and they were beautifully packed in a vibrant red sauce.
