Les Mouettes d’Arvor Rillettes de Langoustine aux graines de Souchet (Langoustine Rillettes with Tiger Nuts)

$11.00

Very creamy, and spreadable. Langoustine aka Norway lobster aka shlobster aka Dublin prawn are cold-water crustaceans that are somewhere between a shrimp and a lobster, but more like a very small lobster than a large shrimp.

Tiger nuts are tubers, the bulbous root of a kind of sedge. They’re most famous for being a kind of sweet that the body metabolizes slower than typical sugars.

Spread these on toast points and garnish with whatever fresh green herb you have handy–we love tarragon.

This was really good! It was my first experience with rillettes. It has a strong, but not overpowering flavor and a great texture once I mixed it up a bit. I ate it on buttery crackers. A great snack!

Nice texture, very strong fishy smell & flavor. Quite sweet. We added pickled red onions & that balanced it out nicely. Would also be nice with some lemon & herbs as described!

I liked the texture, once I mixed up a bit. Flavor is a little strong, but for me, quiet good. I sliced a shallot and ate the rillette on some Danish rye crackers along with shallot. Nice late night snack.

Good quality with a very clean flavor, but it’s not for me. I know I could mix things into it and I’d like it better, but then that would defeat the purpose.

Delicious rilletes! I loved it on lightly toasted bread as-is, and it was even better with a squeeze of lemon. Strong? Don’t folks complain about lobster being not flavorful enough? This is flavorful and not excessively fishy. The sweetness of the tiger nuts is subtle in the best way. Break it up with some cornichons. I will come back to this one. I feel like a lot of brands of tinned seafood’s reviews of their pates and rillettes lag well behind their more intact seafoods, so I haven’t ventured there much. This experience has me interested in trying more rillettes varieties from Mouettes D’Arvor. I’ve got eyes on the tuna with green peppercorn, and the tuna with fromage blanc.
