These are certainly delightful little gems. A photograph of these wee pilchards tucked crosswise in the can would sell most folks already, but they are also delicious. More silvery than brislings of the same size, and both plumper and firmer. I’d originally had a salad plan for these fish, but I tried one straight out of the can, you know, in the interest of science. One thing led to another, and the empty tin was staring up at me. No regrets.
These babies command a premium over their slightly-larger small sardine brothers and sisters. Worth it? Definitely. They’re rare, they’re a sight to behold, they’re super fun.
