Top notch flavor and texture. Medium-soft, flaky, and extremely moist without falling apart. Seasoning is spot on and I didn’t want to add anything extra – just ate them straight from the tin at room temp. Flavor-wise this tin gives me some Yurrita vibes, some Trata vibes … and that’s pretty high praise. The cost puts these out of my daily driver territory but I’ll be happy to revisit these on occasional splurges. It’s a pure and simple experience that really feels like a true sardine-lover’s sardine.

So I was hesitant to purchase this tin because of the price but I was intrigued enough to “take one for the team” and I’m glad I did!
Let’s start out by stating that I was expecting the typical chonky bois based on the 3/5 description. Imagine my elated surprise when I popped the tin and it was the wee little sardinillas instead! Counted exactly 15 of the little fellas to be precise. Odor was rather muted and the olive oil had a nice thick creamy consistency. The fish themselves were fabulous – nice umami flavor with no harsh ‘fishiness’. Texture was moist and flaky, but still firm enough to come out of the tin without falling apart. Seasoning was spot on also.
In conclusion, I’ll place this tin in the top-tier along with the other premium brands I’ve tried in the past, which only makes sense because you’ll pay a premium price for them! Well worth trying out if you’re a fan of Ramon Pena, La Brujela, Conservas de Cambados offerings.
